A Famous Couch

This has been an interesting week that started off with me sick and today is the first day I have actually felt good.  It has been rainy and just plain yuck and overcast.  Please come back sunshine.  I am hoping the weekend is going to be dry, so we can be outside enjoying summer.

I heard an interesting story about a couch on the news.  I know it seems odd that a couch could make a news story, but this was an unusual story.  An old couch was left on the side of the road at a busy intersection here in our community.  It was as we say an eye sore and had people gasping that someone would drop there old furniture off on the road.  Perhaps it was placed there as a prank or fell off the back off a truck.  I guess we will never know.  It has made its' self famous on Facebook and perhaps Youtube.

The story of the couch began last Saturday morning after a couple of cars passed by and called the city to report the couch.   No one wanted rubbish on the street and especially in front of two local restaurants.  The Mayor stated it would be Monday before he could get the trash company to pick up the couch.  So, the restaurant owners thought it would be fun to get people to sit on the couch and take selfies in exchange for a free drink.  A woman took the first selfie and  then everyone started taking selfies from children to even the Mayor.  Then a local resident decided to turn the old couch into something positive.  A T-shirt was born with a saying about the couch. This lead to many other residents buying the T-shirts, and all the money from the sales went to the high school athletics department to pay for students to participate in sports.

The couch has now made it to dumpster heaven.  It created quit a story and has given hope to a lot of students who enjoy sports.  People have even made a memorial site for the couch and taken selfies kneeling down by flowers and candles.  It is amazing that an old couch that left a lot of people gasping has also made a lot of people smile.  Life is interesting when you add a little humor to it.

Life is beautiful!!
