Home At Last

It was a long ride home yesterday through the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia as it rained nonstop. God had painted the tree tops with gold, orange, and red.  It was like looking at a painted canvas.  At times the rain had created a lot of fog which swirled and created what looked like clouds all around us. I fell asleep for about an hour only to awake wondering where we were.  My husband's internal GPS  had a lapse and we were in a state that was not on the path to home.  After pulling off the road, I was able to set us back on track, but the detour had set us back a couple of  hours.

My son called wanting to know where we were.  He confessed that Laney was depressed and awaiting our arrival. He laughed as I explained we were a little off the beaten path.  I could hear him over the phone reassuring Laney we would be home hopefully before midnight.  I decided sleep would have to wait until we were home, as I kept my GPS on track.

Finally we were home and we had returned to the cool fall weather.  I was already to put the car in reverse as I thought about winter coming.  I could hear Laney growling as we unlocked the door.  She was pleasantly surprised as she flipped around on the floor, wagging her tail and going back and forth between my husband and I. She always has a nice greeting for us to help sooth the fact that we are back to reality.  As I type this she is sitting on my lap and I am at peace with my four legged friend.  Life is good!!
