Farewell 2016

It has been a year to remember and also forget.  This year has flown by quickly and with a vengeance.  From senseless killings to a controversial presidential election and a weather system that has no mercy, we have experienced quite a bit.  I think we will be talking about this year long after it is over.  Let us all pray for a better 2017.

I have forged forward with my promise to myself to take good care of me.  It has been a year of new adventures. I joined the gym and started Zumba twice a week.  It has been a fun way to get the heart rate up, shed some pounds and make some more new friends.  Cha, cha, cha...

My husband and I decided to visit some state parks and camped with our friends the raccoons.  They are as cute as they are smart and out witted us a couple of times.  They liked our marsh mellows over the fire.  We had some good laughs as one snuck up beside me and I screamed and scared the poor critter back into the woods.  We spent a couple of evenings inside the tent watching the fire as our forest friends trotted around the campsite.  They were not afraid of us and enjoyed teasing us.  LOL!

We did take a trip for three days in the Great Smoky Mountains a couple of weeks before the fires.  It was beautiful hiking in the mountains.  It saddens me to know that the very places we hiked are no longer there.   I could hardly look at the pictures on the news.   I am glad we got to enjoy the area before the tragedy.  My heart goes out to the people who lost their lives and homes.  It will take years and perhaps decades for the area to recover.

We had a very mild fall with above average temperatures.  We took advantage of it and spent our weekends hiking through area parks.  We enjoyed the beauty of the fall leaves and got quite the work out.  Enjoying nature is a beautiful way to relax.

The trees in our front yard have just know finished shedding.  Spent three hours outside Wednesday raking up the leaves.  It has been strange weather with a snow storm and ice one week and up to seventy degrees a week latter.  It is now very windy and cold,  but we have finally enjoyed some sunshine.

My prayers are for all the people grieving from killings that have left their loved ones dead.  It is very unsettled times these days.  We have also lost some beloved Hollywood and other famous people this year.  Too many to list.  And, I have personally lost some more family members.

One last thing before I say good bye to 2016 and, it is of course about the medical profession.  Once again it has been proved to us that doctors are seeing too many patients and making too many mistakes.   We had an incident that could have taken my husband's life, but a nurse caught the mistake and we are very lucky.  I guess you could say that the nurse was an angel.  God Bless him! As for the doctor and the wrong orders,  he apologized and we dug deep into our heart to forgive him and put the past behind us.  Our life is precious and must never be taken lightly.  It is very scary to be a patient now days and I would caution people to always have an advocate with them.

So farewell 2016 and may we all be blessed with good health and happiness !

Life is beautiful !!

Elizabeth:)
