Arctic Blast

I was reading some of my blog writings from last January.  It is hard to believe it has been almost a year ago since we walked a half marathon in San Antonio Texas.  I still have my medal hanging here in the family room to remind me that things can be accomplished in life.  My husband and I met that goal of walking a half marathon by training and encouraging each other.   We remind ourselves that all is possible, but we have to work to see the end result.  We can apply that same concept to heal our minds.  We are working on changing our life and bringing happiness back.

The first goal this year is to get out and socialize despite the obstacles of winter.  So, we are filling up the social calendar.  We may have to slip and slide and bundle in layers, but we will be having fun with friends.  I am learning to embrace winter and made a decision not to let it get me down.  This is going to be a big challenge, as we are having one of the worst winters in two decades.  So, the challenge is on and off we go into the winter wonderland.

Speaking of the worst winter in two decades, you would have thought the media had announced the world was coming to an end.  We went to the grocery store today and there were more people shopping than there was during the holidays.  There were thirty registers running and the lines were backed up to the middle of the store.  Literally some of the shelves of food were bare.  The media is predicting snow starting tonight and continuing tomorrow with up to six or more inches on top of the five we got two days ago.  I can handle the snow, but the Arctic blast coming is going to send me into hibernation.  They are expecting the temperature to be possibly a negative 40 degrees or more with the wind gust.  The high on Monday is negative 2 degrees.  Okay, my socializing may have to take a hiatus until the Arctic blast decides to take up residency somewhere else.  I have told myself this is only temporary and by the end of the week we will break 30 degrees.  A heat wave in comparison to the negative temperatures.  Thank goodness for hot chocolate, blankets and our warm home.

Lookout 2014 here we come!  Never say never and remember life is full of challenges, and we can move on and decide to live it under our own conditions.  Hello, we are alive!!

Life is beautiful with one spoiled dog named Laney!!
