Lazy Days Of Summer

The extreme heat of this summer has taken its toll on our four legged friends. Laney has surely lived up to the phrase the lazy days of summer. She is spoiled as we are from the air conditioned house. I was thinking back to childhood and remembering the hot summers with no air conditioning and thinking about how we survived. I even remember my first car with no air conditioning. Wow, thank goodness for technology. My heart goes out to anyone with out electric from the bad storms we have been experiencing or those who can't afford air conditioning.

Be kind to you four legged friends this summer. They don't have sweat glands and the only way to cool off is panting. Their fur is like a winter coat and if it is black they are even hotter just like the black interior of a car. Pamper your pet with lots of water and if possible spoil them with air conditioning. Limit their time outside because they suffer heat stroke far easier than we do. Laney has chose to sleep until fall by an air vent. I think I'll sleep too, and maybe a magic maid will clean the house. Ha Ha! I must be having delusions from the heat. Where ever you are stay cool and spoil your pets.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday! I'm celebrating this day wearing pink, my favorite color. Just as the pink fireworks raced across the sky in celebration of Laney's birthday,they will once again light up the sky for me. I have recently thought of how wonderful it is to have a birthday around the fourth of July. I like to think that the fireworks are my joy bursting and celebrating life. I am thankful this day for good health, my family and friends. And of course, I am blessed to have my four legged friend here right beside me to celebrate. Laney and I will be watching for the shooting fireworks and hope you too will also feel the joy and excitement as another year passes. Happy Fourth of July to all of you tomorrow, from Laney and her two legged friend.
