Celebrations are moments in our life that help us remember a significant day. Certain days of our lives are to be remembered because they signify the love of family and friends and accomplishments we have achieved. Today is one of those days that I have celebrated for the last 32 years. It was a day of commitment before God to love someone always and forever in sickness and health until death do us part. I was surrounded on that day by family and friends that have been beside me over the years. Some of those people have left us for a peaceful life elsewhere and some are still standing beside me and celebrating. There are also those that have joined me along the way. Today as I reflect back over the 32 years, I will remember how I have found the needle in the haystack. I will give blessing for all the good days and forgive the myself and others for the challenging days. So now I will give thanks to those who were instrumental in remembering this day.
The thanks start with my husband who I still love and the result of that love is two great children and a dog named Laney. I also would like to honor my mother-in-law who is always present in our hearts. She had a way of keeping her son in line. Many years ago she said," My son is trainable please don't give up on him." She also said, "If you love him forgive his stupid moments in life(LOL), because he loves you more than himself." Also because of her, I have Laney who takes my husbands spot in bed when he does stupid things.(LOL) That's where the term in the dog house comes from. And of course, thanks to my best friend who never forgets this day we celebrate. She is always there to remind me of why my husband loves me. It is because I love myself!!!
Laney passed away in Febuary of 2017. This blog and her legacy live on. She gave me courage to talk about how the medical field affected our family. She gave me a purpose to write. Forever she will be in my heart.

Serendipity
Serendipity is defined as an unexpected wonderful event in life. Sometimes serendipity is referred to as finding a needle in a haystack. I like to think that no matter what happens in life that we can find positive aspects of it. Sometimes even if a life situation is stressful, we can get a good laugh out of it or find something positive. We need to learn to let our minds shift to gratitude and see that things happen for a reason. Our daily interactions and chance meetings with people write our life script. It is ultimately up to us to decide how we will perceive our encounters. Right at this moment I am sitting next to my wonderful unexpected friend and loyal companion. Her name is Laney. Six years ago by chance I walked into a pet store just for something to do and walked out with Laney. A life event which has certainly brought serendipity to my life. There is never a dull moment with her and certainly lots of laughs. I will admit at times it has been hard to find serendipity in other aspects of my life, but somehow I have found the needle in the haystack. And, believe me when I found the needle it was certainly a moment to remember. I hope everyone can find serendipity, because fairy tales do come true.
