Laney passed away in Febuary of 2017. This blog and her legacy live on. She gave me courage to talk about how the medical field affected our family. She gave me a purpose to write. Forever she will be in my heart.

Angels
Angels are spiritual beings that come and go in our lives. They are people who come into our life at just the right time. Sometimes they are just casual acquaintences that may smile at us and lift up our day or say something positive that changes our lives. Others stay around for the long haul of life. I believe that these people were meant to be in our life. Sometimes we may not know at first that they are meant to change our life. As time goes on we realize what an impact that all people have made in our life. If we choose we can find something good that everyone has done for us. I have choose now to see the angels that have graced me in some of the most disparaging times. Although Laney is not a human, I believe that by some divine intervention she was brought into my life. She has been an uplifting companion for me and loves me unconditionally as I love her. She depends on me and brings a smile to my face every morning. I have learned that routines can be a blessing as a four legged friend will always wake you up and let you know it's time to go to bed. They give us purpose to keep living. They are always happy to see us. They really are a person's best friend. I am blessed to have Laney and all the people who have been angels in my life. Take a moment today and perhaps you will see the angels in your life.

My Valentine
Valentines Day is a day to acknowledge our true feelings for the ones we love. Since Laney has no four legged friends that I know of, I will make sure she knows how much she is loved. She will get hugs, extra treats and tons of attention today. I see this as acknowledgement to my best four legged friend. She has won my heart as she is always here to listen, brightening up my day with her funny antics. She lays in my lap and keeps me warm on cold winter days. When I return from trips, she always greats me at the door. She never complains and protects me from the unknown. She is a devoted four legged friend. My family would say the same for her. They know they can count on her to make them laugh and show much excitement whenever they see her. Also today I say Happy Valentines Day and I love you to my family and friends. I hope they remember also to tell their four legged friends how much they love and appreciate them. Before I end this post I would like to say to my husband that after celebrating 35 Valentine Days with you, that you still have my heart and all my love. Thanks for the red roses! Laney ate them. Just Kidding!!! XOXO

Lightening Bolts
I had to leave Laney again recently to help support my husband on another journey. Upon returning Laney was very happy to see us as she wagged her tail and rolled around on the floor. I wondered if it was a lightening bolt moment for her. One of the those moments when something happens that makes us feel elated or at peace. My students used to have lightening bolt moments when they would finally understand something they were trying to learn. Their excitement always made me happy. I recently myself had a lightening bolt moment. It was a moment when I was able to understand what was causing a lot of thunder in my life. It was definitely an aha moment for me when something made sense. I was starting to feel at peace with myself and I hope that I can experience more of those lightening bolt moments. They seem to lead us to the sunshine in our lives. I hope Laney sees the sunshine as much as I do.
